Is a regional and seasonal diet important to you in order to protect the environment? Do you cook for yourself or for the whole family? Here we present six vegan cookbooks with different approaches. There is sure to be something that is right for you.

Is it healthy to eat vegan?

According to the German Nutrition Society (DGE) a plant-based diet is very healthy, as eating too much meat can increase the risk of certain types of cancer. With a purely vegan diet, however, you should make sure that you have an adequate supply of certain nutrients. These include proteins, long-chain omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin D, vitamin B2 and calcium, iron, iodine, zinc and selenium. You can find out which plant-based foods you can use to meet your needs, for example in the position paper the German Society for Nutrition.

Danger: You cannot ensure an adequate supply of vitamin B12 with a purely plant-based diet, which is why taking a vitamin B12 supplement is recommended.
