A terrible accident happened on Thursday near Völkermarkt on the Lavamünder Landesstraße near Dürrenmoos: A 23-year-old motorcyclist from Lower Austria lost his life.
The young Lower Austrian was traveling from Ruden in the direction of Dürrenmoos when, for unknown reasons, he came across oncoming traffic in a right-hand bend. “In the opposite direction, a concrete mixer truck was traveling, with which the motorcycle driver collided head-on,” reports the police. “Both vehicles caught fire immediately.” Emergency doctor and paramedic were on the spot, but unfortunately could not save the 23-year-old despite resuscitation measures – he died at the accident site. The driver of the concrete mixer truck, a 50-year-old Slovenian, was unharmed. “The accident site was closed to all traffic for around four hours,” the police continued. “The Völkermarkt, Ruden and St. Peter fire brigades deployed a total of 30 men to extinguish the vehicles, both of which were totaled, and to rescue them.”
