Full bike control

Vello Bike+ Gears: two new electric-assisted folding bikes

For lovers of the little queen who love to pedal in urban centers, the folding bike is a must. To fill a gap in their predecessor, the Bike+ Automatic, Vello’s new models gain manual shifting for riders who prefer to maintain full control over their ride.

We are thus entitled to a three-speed bike, always accompanied by an all-in-one motor and a battery hidden in the frame. As an option, it is possible to choose a six-speed transmission, depending on the use Speed Drive or Mountain Drive for steeper environments.

For the rest, the new version of Vello seems to take over a good part of the characteristics of its elder, with hydraulic brakes, and 20-inch Schwalbe Marathon Original or Schwalbe Kojak wheels for the Titanium model. The integrated 173 Wh battery is announced to last 75 km in hybrid mode. In addition, the motor has regeneration, allowing the bike to be recharged when descending or coasting.

Vello obviously relies heavily on the compactness and lightness of the whole, with dimensions identical to those of the Bike+ Automatic of 57 x 79 x 29 cm for a weight of 14.4 kg. There is no doubt that the Titanium version should come closer to 10 kg.

A price not as light as the bike

Depending on the version chosen, the price can range from 3090 € to 4390 €. The most accessible model, the Vello Bike+ Gears Chromoly, is offered at €3,090 with the three-speed transmission. To upgrade to the six-speed version, whether it’s the Speed Drive or Mountain Drive transmission, you’ll have to add €300 to the bill.

Fans of lightness will have to save themselves an additional €1,000 for a velocipede displayed at €4,090 in the Titanium version, and still €300 more for the optional six-speed transmission. Additionally, Vello is offering a cover, kickstand and light for all Bike+ Gears Titanium orders during the month of May.
