A title that announces a conclusion?

In addition to having changed the release date of this third opus, Sony has also finally given it a title! Venom 3 therefore becomes Venom: The Last Dance.

This title – which translates to “The last dance” in French – seems to indicate that this new adventure of the anti-hero played by Tom Hardy (Peaky Blinders, the Revenant) could well be the last. As a reminder, Venom has not appeared on our screens since his brief appearance in the post-credits scene of Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021.

We don’t yet know what awaits the character in Venom: The Last Dance but Hardy will respond to Juno Temple (Ted Lasso, Fargo), Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 years a slave, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness) and Clark Backo (The Scarlet Handmaid, The Changeling).

Venom (2018) and its sequel Venom: Let There be Carnage (2021) generated $1.3 billion at the box office. The first opus can be seen or rewatched on Disney+ while the second is available on Netflix.

Venom: The Last Dance is directed by Kelly Marcel, for whom this is her first directorial debut, based on a screenplay co-written by the latter and Tom Hardy. The film is produced by Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal, Hutch Parker, Marcel and Hardy.

As a reminder, another film from Sony’s Spider-Verse is expected in theaters this year: Kraven the Hunterstarring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, is scheduled to hit theaters on August 28.

Hoping for him, and for Venom, that success will be more there than the latest addition to the universe Spiderman from Sony, Madame Webwhich was a public and critical failure.
