(CercleFinance.com) – Veolia announced yesterday that it has launched a study, as part of the consortium formed with LIPOR and P2X Europe, on a project to convert CO2 from municipal waste into sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in Portugal .
It would then be one of the first synthetic e-fuel production units in Europe within the energy recovery unit of LIPOR (the Greater Porto inter-municipal waste management service) near Porto.
Thanks to its innovative design and technology, it should revolutionize the waste-to-energy industry while decarbonizing the aviation sector, says Veolia.
This project will consist of capturing, extracting and purifying the biogenic part of the CO2 which constitutes approximately 60% of the carbon dioxide emissions generated following the incineration process.
