Vergnet: start of construction on a wind project in the Dominican Republic – 11/30/2023 at 6:07 p.m.

(AOF) – Vergnet indicates that “this summer marked the start of the Guazuma construction site on the Samana peninsula, in the Dominican Republic”. This project, with an initial amount of 603,000 euros, concerns the supply and installation with technical assistance of a GEV MP-C wind turbine with a power of 275kW, on behalf of Generadora Eolica de las Galeras. This project aims to promote clean energy at lower costs and reduce dependence on diesel. The first phase of the project, relating to the supply of equipment, was carried out by Vergnet during the summer.

Vergnet delivered all the equipment, including the nacelle and the blades manufactured in France in the workshops of the Ormes and Servian sites.

The client started the installation phase of the wind turbine and began the civil engineering work in August 2023. For this, he called on the Vergnet teams last October to assist and advise him in this strategic phase. . The team was able to respond to his problems and adapt to them to provide him with additional support.

Thus, an expert from Vergnet will visit the site at the beginning of 2024, to supervise the assembly of the wind generator with the teams from Generadora Eolica de las Galeras.

These additional services should generate additional revenue for Vergnet representing more than 25% of the initial cost of the project. The commissioning of this wind turbine is planned for the first quarter of 2024.

The challenges of water recycling

According to a report from the World Economic Forum, demand for water will jump by 55% by 2050. However, only 11% of water is recycled globally, with strong disparities depending on the country: if this rate reaches 89% in Israel, it falls to 15% in Spain. It is even less than 1% in France! The Veolia manager, however, believes that the rate of 10% targeted for 2030, as part of the new Water plan announced by the authorities, is achievable under certain conditions. At the forefront is administrative simplification. Veolia is committed to tripling its production of recycled water by 2030 to bring it to 3 billion m3. In this area, the world leader in environmental services strengthened its know-how during its takeover bid for the former Suez group.
