(AOF) – Verimatrix has announced that it has sold its portfolio of historic NFC patents to semiconductor company Infineon Technologies AG for nearly $ 2 million. This divestiture ends Verimatrix’s patent participation in the NFC patent licensing program that generated cumulative revenues for the company in excess of $ 50 million between 2014 and 2021, including $ 16.6 million in the second quarter of 2021.
This transaction comes after France Brevets, manager of the NFC patent license program, signed NFC patent licenses with all the major smartphone manufacturers in the world.
Verimatrix is now fully focused on its core business, protecting video content and mobile applications. As previously announced, the company will present its strategic plan on March 10, 2022.
