San Diego Pooth moved to the USA for his golf career. Mama Verona now reveals that her husband misses their son in particular.

Just in time for his 18th birthday, on September 10, 2021, San Diego Pooth started his new life. To become professional golfers, the eldest son of Verona, 53, and Franjo Pooth, 52, packed his bags and moved to Florida. There he attended the famous IMG Sports Academy, where Boris Becker, 53, trained. But saying goodbye is particularly difficult for one family member.

Verona Pooth: “His eyes are instantly a different color”

At the “Tribute to Bambi” party in Berlin, Verona now revealed that husband Franjo is particularly affected by the separation from their son San Diego. “A word about: How is Diego, then his eyes immediately have a different color,” said the 53-year-old. In order to cope with the pain of separation, the younger son Rocco, 10, now receives many presents. “He’s getting kissed all the time,” admits Mama Verona with a smile. In this way, even the smallest of the family can certainly cope better with the separation from their big brother.

But saying goodbye to her eldest was not so easy for Verona Pooth either. “There won’t be a day that I won’t lie on San Diego’s bed thinking of him,” she said recently. Above all, she will miss the joint podcast that she and her son affectionately called “Poothcast”.

San Diego takes it easy

The 18-year-old doesn’t seem homesick. “I’m not out of the world. I’m definitely coming home for Christmas,” said San Diego. He also shows snippets of his training on his Instagram account – and seems happy to be able to pursue his dream. Hopefully this can put the rest of the Pooth family at ease.

But even if Verona and Franjo find it difficult to send their son into the world alone: They are incredibly proud of him. They definitely want to support him in his plans for the future.
