Verona Pooth wants to talk to Alice Schwarzer. Almost 20 years after her TV dispute, she invited her to her talk show.
Verona Pooth (54) wants to reconcile with Alice Schwarzer (80). More than 20 years after her legendary argument on the ZDF program by Johannes B. Kerner (58), Pooth Schwarzer has now invited her to her new talk show “More than Talking” and is hoping for a debate. “I hope Ms. Schwarzer agrees,” says the 54-year-old from the “Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung”. “I would be happy if we could shake hands after all these years.”
Verona Pooth, then Feldbusch, and Alice Schwarzer met in June 2001 at Johannes B. Kerner and discussed among other things the role model of women. Schwarzer had previously described Pooth as a “slap in the face for every German emancipated woman”.
“Not with a gong like in a boxing match”
But there shouldn’t be another scandal in front of the camera: “I would talk to her about life, about her career and maybe look back at our collision on ZDF with Mr. Kerner,” says Pooth. “But not with a gong like in a boxing match, according to the motto off to the second round. Not like that.”
Instead, she wanted to emphasize the similarities between the two women: “Somewhere we stand up for the same thing. We are both women who are successfully going their own way, who were pioneers in many things and for whom independence is a big issue.”
