Véronique Genest excluded from the TV movie based on Marc-Olivier Fogiel’s book: the journalist “glad that she is no longer there”

Interviewed by Le Parisien, Marc-Olivier Fogiel gave news of the adaptation of his book, What’s wrong with my family?

The controversy was short-lived, but it marked Marc-Olivier Fogiel. In an interview given to Parisian, this Monday, January 17, the general manager of BFMTV returned to the announcement of the role that Véronique Genest was going to play in The Stork’s Call, the TV movie adapted from his book, What’s wrong with my family? This book bears witness to the experience of Marc-Olivier Fogiel, whose two daughters were born by gestational surrogacy (GPA). When it was released in 2018, Véronique Genest had made abject remarks on Twitter: “In twenty years, children will say : ‘Say dad, who is mum? Why did she sell me?‘” she wrote.

The journalist had only been involved in the film at the time of writing, yet this decision spurred him to action: “I invested myself upstream, at the time of writing. Then I didn’t want to interfere anymore. Except when I learned that Véronique Genest was going to play a role in it. The problem is her lack of respect and argument, not the fact that she is against surrogacy” Very quickly, the actress was finally dismissed from the project. “I’m glad she’s gone“, confessed Marc-Olivier Fogiel.

A movie “very successful

The announcement of Véronique Genest’s involvement in the film shocked Marc-Olivier Fogiel. The journalist was outraged on Twitter: “So this is the best! I just learned it ! It was Michèle Bernier who was to play. Obviously, the budget must be comfortable so that Véronique Genest (who, after having said horrors) goes to the soup ! Yum yum! yuck.” According to the production of France 2, announcing the actress as an actress of the film in her press release was a mistake. Indeed, she had not yet signed anything and her participation in the film was far from certain.

In the columns of Parisian, Marc-Olivier Fogiel is proud of the result: “This film is very successful. He is not Manichean and poses all the problems. It’s one more step in stopping the fantasy machine. If we had to remember only one thing from what I did, I would like it to be this.”
