The Vertu brand is celebrating its 22nd anniversary and is preparing to launch a luxurious smartphone for the occasion, the Constellation X Ulm. A mobile only available through the purchase of an NFT.

It had been a while since the Vertu brand, specializing in luxury phones, had not been talked about. Here she is back on the front of the stage to celebrate her 22nd birthday. To mark the occasion, the firm announces the launch of a new device called the Constellation X Ulm. As usual – at least until its last model, launched in 2018 – this is a mobile with a rather high-end technical sheet, made with very expensive materials. As NFTs are on the rise, they are an integral part of the project. It should be remembered that Vertu, initially launched by Nokia in the United Kingdom, then sold to several companies over the years, experienced serious financial setbacks before falling into the hands of the Cypriot company Baferton in 2017.

An original sales method

To sign its return, the brand is setting up an unprecedented launch operation this Monday, June 20: only 10,555 copies of its smartphone will be available for sale via the purchase of an NFT, on the official Vertu website. 1000 NFTs are also offered for sale on the Binance NFT platform, which is currently the largest cryptocurrency exchange in the world. The Verti token (VCXP) is listed for sale at a price of $5175.

Once all the NFTs have been sold, the 10,555 customers will have until September 23 to decide whether to trade it in for the smartphone (worth $14,890) or keep it to join a private club. bringing together the brand’s prestigious clients. We suspect that some will want to wait in order to speculate on the value of the NFT over time.

A robust and secure smartphone

Vertu has not completely poured out on the smartphone. We therefore know that the latter is equipped with a 6.7-inch Amoled LTPO screen displaying in Full HD + (2408 x 1080 pixels) HDR10 + compatible, capable of offering a variable refresh rate up to 120 Hz. The set is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus.

For the photo, the brand opted for a triple sensor consisting of a 50-megapixel main sensor (f / 1.9 optics), a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle module (f / 2.2) and a a telephoto lens (f / 3.5) associated with a 48 megapixel sensor. A configuration that is reminiscent of that of… the Pixel 6 Pro. Autonomy is ensured by a solid 5000 mAh battery compatible with recharging at 30 W. The mobile is not a featherweight, as it is announced at 244 grams.

It is possible to choose the materials used for the finish.

It is possible to choose from different materials such as yellow or white gold, titanium or luxury leathers. In addition, one of the buttons placed on the right edge of the device is a sapphire. A luxury concierge service is also associated with the device. The brand also called on the company CommuniTake, which specializes in securing data on smartphones, to take care of the software part of the terminal, which runs Android 12.

Vertu is therefore back with a fairly new sales technique, but also with a smartphone whose technical data sheet is still unclear. Once again, the company wants above all to stand out through its brand image rather than through its products as such. She intends anyway to deliver her first Constellation X Ulm to NFT holders ad hoc before February 2023.
