Very disrupted rail traffic at the Gare du Nord in Paris

Traffic is very disrupted, Sunday, June 5, on the rail network departing from and arriving at the Gare du Nord in Paris. Traffic is blocked on the main lines until mid-afternoon, SNCF said on Sunday.

A “power supply failure in Saint-Denis” is at the origin of the chaos, without the SNCF being able to say immediately if this power failure is linked to the strong storms which crossed France on Saturday. “It’s too early to tell”said a spokesperson for the group.

“The circulation of trains is completely interrupted on departure and arrival at the Gare du Nord following a power supply failure”warned the SNCF on its site in the middle of the morning. “Some TGVs take another route with Paris Gare de Lyon as the departure or arrival station”it is specified.

Traffic “will be blocked on the main lines until mid-afternoon”a spokesman for the railway company told Agence France-Presse. Traffic was restored in the middle of the day on the RER B and was to restart around 1 p.m. on the RER Dsaid the same source.

The Minister for Ecological Transition, Amélie de Montchalin, acknowledged on Sunday “Very strong disturbances in the north of Paris”. “Normally, at 1 p.m., traffic at the Gare du Nord should be able to gradually resume”she added, on RTL and LCI.
