“Very very good movie!” : a Predator actor praises Prey

While “Prey”, available on Disney +, seems to have everyone in agreement, an actor from the original “Predator” film, Jesse Ventura, does not hide his enthusiasm for the new opus.

Four years after the questionable The Predator, the franchise launched in 1987 is picking up again thanks to Prey directed by Dan Trachtenberg. The prequel introduces the extraterrestrial to the 18th century, to the heart of an indigenous tribe, the Comanches. If it remains different from John McTiernan’s film, this part is the one that comes closest to it. He goes back to basics and delivers a show that is as generous as it is bloody.

An actor from the original film also seems to be seduced by Prey. Jesse Ventura, who plays mustachioed Blain Cooper alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger, posted a message on his official Twitter account. He notably salutes the interpretation of Amber Midthunder by citing one of his essential lines in the 1987 film.

“Prey is a very, very good movie. Amber Midthunder, you clearly don’t have time to bleed. Welcome to the Predator family. Dan Trachtenberg, thank you for making such a thoughtful, creative and wonderful film.”

In the continuation of the exchanges, the American actor also takes the opportunity to respond to Dane DiLiegro, who hides under the costume of the beast in Prey. “It’s not easy to pass after the superb performance of the late Kevin Peter Hall in Predator. I take my hat off to you. Your work is fantastic.”

Very attached to the original film, the filmmaker Dan Trachtenberg was inspired by one of the secondary characters of John McTiernan’s classic for Prey. In the columns of the magazine Empirehe explains that the heroine Naru (Amber Midthunder) is based on Billy (Sonny Landham), a Native American who takes on the Predator.

I wanted to focus on someone who would notably have been only a companion of the herosays Dan Trachtenberg. In predator, Billy is just one of the team members. In Preywe follow someone who has never been the center of a movie before.”

Prey is available on Disney+.
