Vice Versa 2: Disney announces a sequel to the Pixar masterpiece

As part of D23, an event organized by Disney, the firm with the big ears announced the start of construction of a second part of Vice Versa!

In 2015, Vice Versa was a hit around the world, collecting $858 million in revenue. In France, the Pixar film attracts 4.5 million spectators.

Despite this great success, a sequel was never considered… until today! During the D23 event, Disney officially announced a Vice Versa 2. This second opus will be released during the summer of 2024. It should explore Riley’s adolescence, integrating new emotions to those already present in the first episode.

On the production side, we will no longer find Pete Docter and Ronaldo Del Carmen, authors of the first film. Kelsey Mann succeeds the directing duo, which will be written by Meg LeFauve, who had already penned the screenplay for Vice Versa in 2015.

Note that rumors are circulating about a brand new character for this second episode. Last year, Pixar was looking for a voice to play a young transgender girl for a project.

The character was named Jess (not Riley). Would this casting announcement actually hide Vice Versa 2, which would thus evoke questions of sexual identity? Answer in a while when we know more about the story.

In any case, actress Amy Poehler, voice of “Joy”, will return. See you in the summer of 2024 for new adventures at the heart of our emotions!
