The Swiss juniors win at the end of the World Cup group phase against Slovakia 4:3 nP Advancement was already secured.
The Swiss U20 national team finished the group phase at the World Cup in Canada positively: After the 4:3 after a penalty shoot-out against Slovakia, they can now start the quarter-finals, for which they had already qualified before the last group game, with a lot of self-confidence.
Switzerland showed morale against the Slovaks and came back from a 1-0 and a 3-1 deficit. In the final third, Mischa Ramel scored the 3:3 equalizer after a strong pass from Liekit Reichle (43′) and Lorenzo Canonica on a power play (49′).
No goals were scored in extra time, so a penalty shoot-out had to decide. After much back and forth, it was Rodwin Dionicio who made the decision as the 20th shooter.
Despite the success, the Swiss juniors remain in 4th place in their group with 3 wins from 4 group games. The opponent in the quarterfinals, which will take place on January 2nd, is still open. With great certainty, however, it will be called either the Czech Republic or Sweden.
