VIDEO – A fabulous gift of 2 million euros fell from the sky for a municipality of Calvados

The inhabitants of Falaise (Calvados) are definitely attached to their town and they let it be known. For the second time in three years, the municipality has been designated as the universal legatee of an inheritance valued at more than 2 million euros. This time, it is the donation of a centenary, Denise Lecourt, who died last April.

An unexpected sum for Hervé Maunoury, the mayor: “It’s a real surprise and then a responsibility despite everything. When someone bequeaths you such a sum, you must be worthy of its use”, he said in the TF1 13H newscast, to see in the video at the top of this article.

Thanks to this donation, the town’s heritage could be restored, as could the football stadium. But the Falaisians also have their ideas on how to use this money. “A bit of everything, if it’s well distributed. Renovation, perhaps housing”, advances a local, consensual. When another prefers “bury the electric wires that walk in the streets”. “It’s perfect, it’s very kind from the lady, it’s better than giving taxes”, one inhabitant still rejoices.

Carmen, the baker in the city center, hopes that her business will benefit from this sum. “What we would have needed is a little more parking because they have reduced the number of places for us. And if there are people who come from far away, when there is none. of places, they do not stop “, she laments.

In the meantime, to thank the generous donor, the town hall is already considering renaming a street in her name. For her part, the benefactress simply asked in her will that the family vault be maintained.
