The descent into hell continues for Adriano. Now 40 years old, the former Brazilian striker was found drunk and drinking a beer on a motorbike in a favela in Rio (Brazil).
The player, who notably made the heyday of Inter Milan, is not rid of his problems related to alcoholism. Problems that arose on the death of his father and which accompanied him for a large part of his career.
“His death destroyed me. I only found happiness by drinking. I did it every night,” he told a Brazilian magazine a few years ago. And to add: “It was the thing that made me happy. I drank it all: whiskey, wine, vodka, beer… Mostly beer, a lot. I couldn’t stop.”
So much so that he went to Inter training completely drunk. “I always came to practice drunk. I didn’t want to show my situation but I didn’t want to skip training sessions either. I arrived in such a state that the staff took me to sleep in the infirmary,” he also said.
A ruined career
His alcohol problems finally ruined the rest of his career, when he was considered one of the best strikers in the world in the mid-2000s. And they would still not be resolved as evidenced by this video posted on TikTok and on which Adriano appears shirtless and a beer in hand on a motorcycle.
The one who was nicknamed “The Emperor” is far from his resolutions taken a few weeks ago in a desire to take control of his life. A father, he wanted to be an example for his children, and in particular one of his sons who dreams of becoming a footballer. He had resumed training and had put alcohol aside. But he seems to have quickly relapsed.
