In Germany he was best known as the lovable nerd "Screech" from the 90s teen series "California High School". Now US actress Dustin Diamond has died of cancer at the age of 44, a spokesman said.

In more than 80 episodes, Diamond embodied the role that made him so famous and popular, and in the sequels he played the curly hair in the series that ran under the name "Saved by the Bell" in the USA.
On January 21st, the 44-year-old was diagnosed with serious cancer and died just three weeks later.
