Denmark is opening up to tourism in phases
Denmark is one of the most popular holiday destinations for Germans.
Will a summer vacation in Denmark beckon after the lockdown? The government has announced that it will gradually reopen the country to foreign tourists.
Good news for everyone who is already completely starved after a vacation trip: Denmark has announced that it will open itself up to vacationers in several steps – and thus also enable Germany to enjoy a summer vacation between the beach, hot dogs and Legoland. But what exactly will the opening look like in practice?
Denmark opens up: that’s planned
The restrictions will therefore be relaxed in four phases, the first phase will begin on April 21 with adjustments for the Danes themselves. For Germans and other foreigners, it is important that the list of valid reasons for entry will be expanded. Exchange students, summer house and boat owners as well as long-term campers can enter the country again. Phases two and three are targeted for May 1st and 14th. From phase two, vaccinated tourists from EU and Schengen countries with acceptable numbers of infections should be able to enter the country without a test or quarantine.
Four steps to summer – then tourists are allowed to come
The easing is divided into four phases, the first of which is to begin on April 21st – although initially with effects on the Danes themselves. But the valid reasons for entering the country for Germans will also be expanded : Boat owners can then re-enter as well as summer house owners or even long-term campers. Phase two provides that vaccinated EU citizens from countries with a low infection rate are allowed to enter without a test or quarantine.
In the third phase, the border areas are also to be exempted from the quarantine regulations, including holidaymakers from Germany. Finally, under certain conditions, phase four makes it possible for practically every one of us to go on holiday in Denmark again. Are you already mentally packing your suitcase?
