This Monday, December 11, the 1 p.m. newsbroadcast on France 2, did not quite go as planned. While Julian Bugier announced a report on scams based on Christmas food products, a technical bug disrupted sending the VCR to the air. It is in fact that of bad weather which crushed the previous report. The 43-year-old journalist and host immediately intervened by warning viewers that they were “live”.
“Hop, the camera is looking for me. Don’t move!” he said, explaining that there was simply “a little subject problem” and that his colleagues were working to improve the situation. Professional despite everything, Julian Bugier turned to the management to ask what was going on and how he could move forward. “Well no, we’re going to go for bad weather… There you go, these are the hazards of live broadcasts”, he said before presenting the next report, while waiting to be able to discuss the one, produced thanks to the NGO revelations Foodwatchlabels for end-of-year holiday products which have been reduced in grams, whose prices have nevertheless been outrageously increased, and whose content is misleading in relation to its indications.
A journalist accustomed to small technical problems
This is far from the first time that Julian Bugier proves he is capable of bouncing back calmly when his TV news doesn’t go as planned. In November 2022, he also experienced several technical problems preventing him from broadcasting a report produced in Brittany on a pastries factory. He had tried his best to bounce back by ensuring that he would return to the famous report later, when possible. But his news had again experienced some problems, pushing him, at the end, to tell viewers that everything came from a strike by part of the staff.
