VIDEO – Ève Gilles on her projects after Miss France: “I plan to finish my studies”


Ève Gilles’ life changed at the age of barely 20, last December. The pretty Miss Nord-Pas-de-Calais won the title of Miss France 2024 at the Zénith in Dijon, in front of hundreds of thousands of viewers. A victory which forced her to put on hold her studies and her plan to one day become a statistician… The young woman from Dunkirk is in fact in the 2nd year of her MIASHS degree (Mathematics and Computer Science Applied to Human and Social Sciences) at the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Lille. A course that she does not intend to abandon after this year spent honoring her duties as a beauty queen: invited in Laurent Delahousse’s news on France 2 this Sunday, March 17, the pretty brunette with short hair has in fact confided her determination to to finish studies.

“There are plenty of Miss France who have very different lives after winning the competition. Do you have an idea of ​​what you want to do next? Are you going to go back to study afterwards?” the journalist asked his guest, referring for example to Iris Mittenaere, a fifth-year dental surgery student before obtaining her crown, and who became a presenter after winning Miss Universe, or to Delphine Wespiser, who was following International Business training. Management at the IUT of Colmar before being crowned Miss France 2012 and then making a career on the small screen. “I plan to finish my studies. My diploma is really important to me. Because you never know what life is going to be like,” assured Ève Gilles. And to conclude: “If I want to work in mathematics I will work in mathematics. For the moment, I don’t really know, but I know that I will complete my degree no matter what happens.”

“Since I was little, I have been very comfortable with maths”

Ève Gilles has always had an affinity with mathematics, according to her own confessions to Lille News last October, before winning the crown of Miss France 2024. “It’s a subject that I’ve loved since I was little: logic, the fact of being able to tell something through numbers.” However, after her baccalaureate, the student preferred to try medicine, “so as not to regret it later” : “I did the first year but I didn’t like it. I quit in the middle of the year, I worked in the factory to make money and I took a degree in math at the Cité Scientifique (VDA)”, explained the one who made gender equality her fight for her Miss year. In addition to her love of math, the beauty queen also has a passion for sport: “I have been dancing since I was little. (…) I also did horse riding for a long time because my sisters did it and I immediately liked it. I also did basketball, athletics, ping pong,… I tried a bit of everything.” A healthy mind in a healthy body !
