VIDEO – Georges Pernoud: the rare confidences of his daughters Fanny and Julie in “Vivement Dimanche”


Georges Pernoud disappeared a year ago. His daughters Fanny and Julie, invited to “Vivement Dimanche” on January 9, shared memories of the much loved presenter of “Thalassa”.

“It’s good that you are here”, Michel Drucker notes for Fanny and Julie, when they sit down on the famous red sofa. This Sunday January 9, the two daughters of Georges Pernoud were in the program “Vivement Dimanche” on France 2, in honor of their father. A year ago, the much appreciated presenter of “Thalassa” on France 3 died, at 73 years old. Michel Drucker brought out some archive footage and invited Fanny, 46, and Julie, 43, to talk about the father they knew. It was “Someone cheerful, enthusiastic. Who always had new projects. He didn’t look behind him too much, but looked with confidence ”, confides the first. “He was at home as seen on TV” shares Julie in turn.

“Like the images we saw today, always with that smile and good humor. And that on a daily basis, for us it was great. We almost have only good times with him ”, remembers, with a smile on her face, the youngest of the sisters, television production manager. When asked what they will say to Georges Pernoud’s grandchildren about their grandfather, Julie answers without hesitation. “I will talk about the visionary side that dad had. Of this program which, at the time, was the only one to talk about the sea ” she values. Unlike today, with “all the shows that exist” Georges Pernoud had “Really a visionary side of things”, recognizes his 43-year-old daughter.

Monique Pernoud, the woman behind the presenter

How to evoke the memory of Georges Pernoud without speaking of his wife? Monique Pernoud, with whom he got married in 1973 and to whom he remained attached until the end, was her man’s full support for the show. Julie confirms it: “Mom, this is Thalassa’s first viewer. The one who never missed a single issue. The one daddy called after every show, as soon as he left the set. It was his flagship for the show ”.
