VIDEO INTERVIEW. Les Combattantes: the links between Caroline and Marguerite, the death of Victor… Sofia Essaïdi tells us everything

This Monday, September 26, TF1 broadcast the continuation of its Combattantes event series. Sofia Essaïdi, who plays Caroline, tells us more about the twists that affect her character, and in particular her links with Marguerite, alias Audrey Fleurot.

Since the beginning of female fighters, Caroline decided to take matters into her own hands. While her husband had no choice but to go to the front, this one took the head of the car factory, not without difficulty. And for good reason, his brother-in-law who fears being called to war, intends to recover the reins in order to be essential to civil society. “Caroline is not going to let it go“, warns us, however, his interpreter, Sofia Essaïdi. And to explain: “His brother-in-law will do everything to take over the factory. It’s all this fight that appealed to me. This discreet fight because she cannot express herself as she would like to. It’s a tough fight where it will gradually impose itself everywherewhether in the factory, in his family and even in society.“Except that’s going to be undermined by the passing of her husband, Victor.”It’s a real turning point“, believes Sofia Essaïdi. And for good reason, despite Victor’s physical absence, he remained despite everything “his protection“.”Suddenly, he is no longer there so there will be a real moment of inner loss. Everything is falling apart“, laments Sofia Essaïdi.

The only light in his absolute misfortune: his daughter. “It is the love she has for her daughter that will allow her to start again and that will allow her to find this energy of survival“, judge the actress. But Caroline keeps her misfortune for her. Instantly, she understands that this information will have terrible repercussions for her. She therefore chooses not to notify her in-laws. “She decides not to say anything because she is afraid of Charles who is there to recover the factory. It’s not for the power or the money. It is for the memory of her husband“, justifies Sofia Essaïdi. And to add: “This factory was her husband’s life and Caroline has this desire to save it and continue her husband’s work. This is really what will make her take this decision that she is having a very bad time with, she saw it inside very very badly. But she decides to do this to save the factory“. But obviously in The Fighterssecrets never last very long.

What is the common past of Caroline and Marguerite?

The same is also true for the nature of his relationship with Marguerite – who is played by Audrey Fleurot. Since the launch of the series, aficionados have only one desire: know the common past of Caroline and Marguerite. They met in another life and it was by chance that Marguerite crossed paths with Caroline at the start of the First World War. “It’s two former prostitutes – Marguerite still is but Caroline is a former prostitute“, teaches us Sofia Essaïdi. Above all, the two women were in love with each other. “They are an old couple who loved each other“, she confirms. But as Caroline explains to Marguerite, she couldn’t be satisfied with this life despite her love for him. “Caroline made the choice to leave the brothel in which they were together. It gave me something really, really interesting to give to Caroline.“, enthuses his interpreter. There is no doubt that this story will take on more importance in the weeks to come.
