This Wednesday, April 24, Albert Cohen and Julien Courbet were guests on the show C to youbroadcast on France 5. The producer and the TV host notably mentioned the tour of a new version of the famous musical The 10 Commandments, which will begin on May 4 and should end in January 2025. The presenter of It can happen to you for his part revealed that this show which marked the 2000s could well have had another name if the director, Élie Chouraqui, had not managed to negotiate with him. Indeed, the title of Ten Commandments had already been legally filed by Julien Courbet, as he confided with amusement.

“I was in my mystical period where I registered all the titles. I had filed The Seven Deadly Sins, do you remember ? And in the process, I filed The ten Commandments. I also did a show, on TF1 at the time, which was called The Ten Commandments of Scamming“, said the 59-year-old host and producer. But he was obviously not the only one to covet this title since Élie Chouraqui contacted him one day. At first convinced that it was a joke, Julien Courbet finally paid attention to his interlocutor’s request, learning that a musical was going to see the light of day in the name of his show.

A skillful live negotiator

Finally, the TV presenter agreed to do him a favor by allowing him to use the title The ten Commandments, despite its initial deposit. “So I gave him a gift,” he said, turning to producer Albert Cohen to demand what he considers to be a fair return: “So, if I could have two invitations to the next one at least, as a courtesy, I would love to…” Enough to make the host of France 5, Anne-Élisabeth Lemoine, laugh a lot. An agreement was therefore concluded between the two men since his interlocutor announced to him that it would be “with great pleasure” to count him among the spectators of the new musical.
