Video streaming: The kids are in charge here

Streaming movies and series is probably more popular than ever thanks to providers like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. A large part of the offer is aimed primarily at adults and young people. But there are also services that specialize in content for children. Here is a selection.

Where "Asterix" experiences adventures and "Lucky Luke" rides through the prairie

On the "kividoo" platform, users will only find series, films and documentaries for children. A large part of the program consists of animated content. This ranges from children's film classics like "Asterix and Cleopatra" to long-running favorites like "Bob the Builder" or "Pokémon" to trendy series like "Paw Patrol" and "Ninjago". Radio plays are also included – including "The Little Prince" and "The Wild Guys". The first 30 days are free of charge, after which the service is due for just under eight euros a month or 80 euros a year.

The "Kixi" service also specializes purely in content for children. According to their own statements, the focus is on pedagogically valuable series and films. Among them are elephant king "Babar", "Captain Blue Bear", "Lucky Luke", "The Adventures of Tintin" or "The Jungle Book". There are also radio plays and audio books here. The total package costs around five euros a month.

The new top dog?

The new "Disney +" streaming service will be launched in Germany on March 24th. While adult German users are looking forward to fresh in-house productions such as "The Mandalorian", the service also has a huge library of children's film classics that come from their own company. But in addition to the "Lion King" and Co., Disney + also offers the popular animation titles from Pixar. The whole thing should cost around seven euros a month, the annual price is just under 70 euros. However, if you pre-order by March 23, you can secure the first year for 60 euros.

If you have a Netflix or Amazon Prime account, you should not underestimate how much child-friendly content is available here. Netflix even has its own section just for kids. You should also send the little ones there, because the regular offer of these services also includes many action and horror titles.
