Video: Ukrainian nurse amputated by Russian mine gets married in hospital, footage goes viral

They are proof that love is stronger than anything. Images of a young Ukrainian couple dancing on their wedding day have gone viral on social media. And for good reason: the scene takes place in a hospital and the bride is a war-disabled nurse.

Captured by a volunteer from a hospital in Lviv (Western Ukraine), and relayed on the official account of the Ukrainian parliament, we see Oksana, 23, and her husband, Victor, hugging each other tenderly and dancing under the applause of their loved ones.

Their story is shocking. The young Ukrainian was returning home with her companion to the city of Lysychansk (East), when the tragedy occurred on March 27.

During their journey, the nurse took a fatal step and was surprised by the explosion of a Russian mine. While Victor was uninjured, Oksana lost both her legs and four of her fingers.

Miraculously, the young woman still survived, but it took her four operations to stabilize her injuries and an evacuation to the west, to Lviv hospital, to be fitted with prostheses.

Oksana is now preparing to travel to Germany with her husband for further treatment.
