Viennese of the Week – Debutantes: Charming couple at the Opera Ball

The 144 debutante couples from the Young Women’s and Young Men’s Committee once again ensured a brilliant opening at the Ball of Balls this year. This time there was a very special couple among them – namely our Viennese of the week!

In a white ball gown or tailcoat, they attracted the attention of over 5,000 guests in the State Opera and at least one and a half million people in front of the TV sets. This time, a very special couple from the “Ich bin OK” club was among the Opera Ball debutants. Our Viennese of the week, Fiona Wolf and Niklas Kern, live with Down syndrome and discovered their passion for dance at an early age. The two have even won gold medals in dance at the Special Olympics. Niklas (30) comes from a family of musicians. 26-year-old Fiona works in service at the Plachutta restaurant in Nussdorf. The aim of “I am OK” is to raise awareness in society for the cultural inclusion of people with disabilities and to break down barriers through dance and theater.
