Vigil: will there be a season 2?

The first season of Vigil ends on January 20, 2022 on Arte from 8:50 p.m. Télé Star tells you everything you need to know about a possible sequel.

The British series has just three episodes left Vigil, and they will be broadcast this January 20 from 8:50 p.m. on Arte. The entire series – six episodes – is also available on demand on Arte. The chain proposed a programming in only two parts for this thriller signed Tom Edge. Vigil was followed by more than 13 million viewers when broadcast on the BBC, the best scores since the broadcast of the series The Bodyguard on Netflix with Richard Madden (Game Of Thrones), which obviously poses the question of a possible second season. Yes, difficult to leave this resounding success without trying to exploit it a little more… But for the moment, no season 2 on the horizon.

Despite very encouraging audiences, only an official renewal from the BBC would mean that Vigil will have a season 2. And so far, the news has not yet fallen, the time therefore remains for speculation and rumours. According to the words of Anjli Mohindra, who plays Tiffany Docherty in the series, reported by Radio Times, there was some “discussions“on a second season.”I think there are things on the horizon, but nothing confirmed yet” she concluded. For their part, the main actresses of the series remain very discreet about a possible sequel. And if Vigil is renewed for a season 2, we can already begin to wonder precisely if Amy Silva, played by Suranne Jones (Gentleman Jack, Dr Foster), and Kirsten Longacre, played byRose Leslie (Game of Thrones, Downton Abbey), will be back.

What could Vigil season 2 be about?

As a reminder, Vigil is a series that follows the adventures of Amy Silva, a Scottish inspector sent to a Royal Navy nuclear submarine, the Vigil. She is sent on a mission to investigate the suspicious death of one of the crew members. Things get complicated when, over the course of his investigation and that carried out, in parallel, by his colleagues on dry land, a conflict between the Royal Navy and MI5 emerges. In addition to the mysterious murder which occupies the majority of the plots, the personal life of Amy Silva and her past relationship with Kirsten Longacre are also explored to see the effects that the stressful and suffocating environment of a submarine can have on already weakened mental health.
