Vikings: Valhalla fans won’t have to wait long for a return to Kattegat, as Season 2 of the Netflix series has already wrapped. But that’s not all: 5 seasons are planned!

- Now Godwin actor David Oakes reveals that his character’s plot has already been set for 5 seasons.
The first season of “Vikings: Valhalla” offered entertaining entertainment and left viewers with an open ending. Streaming service Netflix is known for sometimes quite abrupt cancellations, but at least in this case you don’t have to worry about staying on the cliffhanger of season 1.
Netflix has ordered 24 episodes of “Vikings: Valhalla” from the start, which corresponds to 3 seasons of 8 episodes each. Season 2 has actually already been filmed and production of Season 3 should follow in the not too distant future.
However, that doesn’t mean an ending after Season 3 is a done deal! Quite the contrary, Netflix just showed a lot of confidence in the project and will review whether the investment was worth it in the coming months. In any case, Jeb Stuart, the showrunner of “Vikings: Valhalla”, envisages 5 seasons.
Godwin actor David Oakes revealed that in an interview with Decider. When asked about Godwin’s master plan, Oakes replied:
[Godwin] does not have an ultimate goal for season 1. He has an ultimate goal for all five seasons, the Jeb [Stuart] imagines. I definitely don’t think Godwin just wants to survive at all costs. He’s slow and he’s patient and he has a wonderfully building storyline where he waits and sees the world unfold.

So Stuart already seems to have a clear direction for 5 seasons, so an earlier cancellation could still lead to an unsatisfactory open ending. So it is only to be hoped that season 1 of “Vikings: Valhalla” and the next two seasons will find their audience and that Netflix will give the “Vikings” spin-off such a round end.
