Vinci: airport traffic in the first quarter multiplied by 3 in one year – 04/14/2022 at 18:21

(AOF) – More than 30 million passengers visited the airports of the Vinci Airports network during the 1st quarter of 2022, i.e. 3 times the attendance recorded in the 1st quarter of 2021 (-46.1% compared to 2019). In January, the epidemic wave linked to the Omicron variant and the maintenance of travel restrictions slowed down the recovery cycle observed during the last quarter of 2021. In February-March, the recovery in traffic was relaunched by a certain epidemic reflux, the easing of restrictions in several countries, in conjunction with the winter holiday period.

At the end of March, traffic on the Vinci Airports network was not disrupted by the war in Ukraine, the Russian and Ukrainian markets and overflights of these territories historically representing only very limited levels of activity, specifies the group.

“The general trend of convergence towards pre-crisis levels is confirmed, but the stage of recovery continues to vary greatly depending on the region”, explains Vinci. For example, airports in the Americas continue to benefit from good traffic dynamics, remaining close to the levels reached in 2019.

Postponement of the waste recycling sector

Professionals believe that subjecting construction materials and products to the eco-contribution in order to recycle building waste could increase prices by 5% to 10%, which is well above the 2.5% to 3% estimated by the Ecological Transition Agency. In addition, building craftsmen must know well enough in advance the amount of eco-contributions to be paid on their purchases, to take this into account in their quote. However, there is still no scale of eco-contributions. Faced with the inflationary shock and taking into account the delay, the new sector should start operating from 2023 and ramp up over three to four years.
