(Boursier.com) — The group vinci indicates that it has signed the concession contract for the seven airports of the Cape Verdean archipelago. They consist of four international airports: Praia (the capital), Sal, São Vicente and Boa Vista. There are also three domestic airports: São Nicolau, São Filipe and Maio.

Over a period of 40 years, Vinci Airports and its Portuguese subsidiary ANA (respectively 70% and 30% of the concession company) will be responsible for the financing, operation, maintenance, extension and modernization of these platforms.

The financial closure of the project must be finalized by mid-2023, the date on which the operation of the airports will be transferred to the new concession company.

Vinci specifies that, on the strength of sustained economic growth, a stable political environment and a good tourist dynamic, Cape Verdean airport traffic increased by an average of 5.6% per year between 2010 and 2019, to 2.8 million passengers. After being impacted by Covid-19, like most tourist destinations around the world, traffic recovered to 80% of 2019 levels during the second quarter of 2022.
