Vinci: green light from Europe for the operation on Lusoponte

(CercleFinance.com) – The European Commission has approved, under the European merger regulation, the acquisition of joint control of the Portuguese company Lusoponte – Concessionária para a Travessia do Tejo (Lusoponte) by the Portuguese company Lineas and by Vinci Highways (Vinci).

Lusoponte is responsible for the design, construction, financing, operation and maintenance of a toll system for the Vasco da Gama and 25 de Abril bridges over the Tagus in Lisbon. This concession held by Lusoponte will expire in March 2030.

For its part, Lineas manages participations in companies operating exclusively in the sector of public and private road concessions, as well as in companies which participate in public and private contracts for road, rail and airport concessions.

Finally, Vinci is mainly active in the motorway concession sector.

The Commission concluded that the proposed transaction would not raise a competition concern given its limited impact on the structure of the market.
