Vinci: launches a solar power plant for Faro airport

(CercleFinance.com) – The group announces the commissioning of the first airport solar power plant in Portugal.

Faro airport, managed by ANA (Vinci Airports/Vinci Concessions), is equipped with a solar power plant. With a capacity of 3 MWp, it can produce 30% of the airport’s electricity needs, reducing CO2 emissions by more than 1,500 t per year.

This first airport solar power plant in the country was financed, developed, built and is operated by Vinci Airports through its photovoltaic subsidiary SunMind.

‘ The initiative is part of Vinci Airports’ global decarbonization programme, which is working to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2030 at its airports in Portugal and the European Union – and by 2050 at the latest at all its airports in the world’ says the group.
