The expected storm made itself felt on Friday night with hurricane-force winds.
The strongest winds were over the Säntis in eastern Switzerland, with wind speeds of 171 kilometers per hour.
Wind speeds of well over 120 kilometers per hour were also measured on Thursday evening in Les Diablerets in Vaud, on the Hörnli in Zurich, the Berner Bantiger, the Great St. Bernhard in Valais and on the Pilatus near Lucerne.
The Federal Office of Meteorology has declared warning level 3 out of 5 for the northern side of the Alps and the northern Alpine valleys. Various railway lines were temporarily interrupted due to strong winds – such as the one between Bern and Solothurn and the one from Zurich main station to the Uetliberg.
