The controversy swells around Kurt Zouma. This Monday, February 7, The Sun published a video in which we discover the defender of the France team hitting her cat. On these images, we can thus see him first of all putting a violent kick at his catthen throw an object at it, and finally give him a slap.

His club West Ham reacted immediately after the publication of these images. “West Ham United unreservedly condemns the actions of our player, Kurt Zouma, in the video that circulated. We’ve spoken to Kurt and will handle the matter internally, but we would like to make it clear that we do not tolerate animal cruelty in any way”announced the London club.

For his part, Kurt Zouma wanted to apologize: “I want to apologize for my actions. There are no excuses for my behavior, which I sincerely regret. I also want to say how sorry I am to everyone who was upset by the video.”said the 27-year-old footballer, who also wanted to reassure about the state of health of his animals: “I want to assure everyone that our two cats are perfectly fine and healthy. They are loved and cherished by our entire family, and this behavior was an isolated incident that will not happen again.”.

The Brigitte Bardot Foundation will file a complaint against Kurt Zouma

British police said they will not pursue the player. But the player is not out of the woods, because the foundation Brigitte Bardot announced on Twitter that she did not want to stop there and that she was going to file a complaint. “These proven acts of mistreatment must be immediately condemned by Didier Deschamps and Noël Le Graët! The FBB demands the player’s immediate suspension for the season and will file a complaint so that these acts of mistreatment do not go unpunished.”so wrote the foundation.

These images also greatly shocked Internet users who did not hesitate to express their anger. Among them, the journalist Hugo Clementcommitted to animal protection, who took to his Instagram account to react.Mr. Zouma is a member of the French football team. He represents our country in international competitions. Animals are sentient beings. Stop impunity for those who harm them”he wrote in particular.

In the United Kingdom, child abuse is a subject taken very seriously, especially since a new bill called “Sentience” was passed in the British Parliament in 2021. Now, offenders face penalties of up to 5 years in prison.
