On November 30th, Louis Vuitton will be showing the last collection by Virgil Abloh “in fond memories” in Miami.

American star designer Virgil Abloh (1980-2021) died of cancer on November 28th at the age of 41. For more than two years, the artistic director of the men’s line of Louis Vuitton had fought against the disease without making it public, it says on his official Instagram account. The luxury brand would like to say goodbye to the deceased in a special way on November 30th.

Like the fashion label announced on Instagram, is to be presented on November 30th in Miami Virgil Abloh’s spring / summer collection 2022. The presentation is meant to be “fondly remembered […] show the life and legacy of a creative genius ”.

It was Virgil Abloh’s wish

Abloh was “not just a friend,” explains Michael Burke, head of Louis Vuitton, in a statement. The visionary designer has “paved the way for future generations”. The deceased was an “eternal optimist” who believed that anything was possible. Accordingly, it was Abloh’s wish that Louis Vuitton show his last collection.

Numerous stars also said goodbye to Abloh on social media. “You have given the world so much in such a short time. And you have created with intensity … you knew better than the rest of us that life is short, but anything is possible. I am honored to have known you to have”, explained Justin Timberlake (40). “Your work as a person and your work as a spiritual being will live forever”, so Pharrell Williams (48). Hailey Bieber (25), whose wedding dress Abloh designed, referred to him as a “creative mind that only exists once in a generation”.
