A gun attack broke out at a Walmart supermarket in Virginia.
Police confirmed to the AP news agency that six people died in the shooting.
The suspected shooter is no longer alive, a police spokesman said.
The incident happened in the city of Chesapeake, in the US state of Virginia. The police received an emergency call around 10 p.m. local time on Tuesday evening, the spokesman said. No information was given on the possible motive.
According to police, the perpetrator was a Walmart employee. Chesapeake Police Chief Mark Solesky confirmed media reports at a press conference. The man took his own life with a gun after the act of violence.
Soleksy further confirmed that four injured are currently in the hospital. According to information from the US broadcaster CNN, the perpetrator fired at his victims in a break room. The police initially gave no further details and referred to the ongoing investigation.
