Virtuos strengthens its technical presence in France with a new R&D department in Montpellier

This new Virtuos Labs will therefore be “formed around experienced technical directors in order to extend its capabilities in engineering and R&D“. Around Alexis Vaisse, former technical director of Ubisoft who notably worked on the Yeti engine, we also find Benjamin Couratin, senior programmer or Marianne Calva, producer, both with extensive experience at the French publisher as well. Virtuos makes no secret of it: setting up in Montpellier means offering yourself the possibility of accessing a certain pool of talent, nurtured in particular at the Ubi school. with the objective of reaching a staff of twenty people in 2023 (there are obviously eight at present).

As for the Labs – Lyon, opened in 2021, Virtuos operates with forty employees and is dedicated “creating graphics and advanced features on proprietary engines for AAA games“, and to the “remastering and adaptation of iconic franchises on the latest generation of consoles“.
