L’Swiss artist Dan Acher has taken up the challenge of recreating the magic and splendor of the Northern Lights in the heart of the French capital. Normally visible from Iceland, Finland or even Norway, this luminous phenomenon will be observable from the Parvis of the Hôtel de Paris, in the 4th arrondissement. The event, organized on the occasion of the multidisciplinary festival “Paris l’été”, will take place this weekend, from Saturday evening, reports vogue.
Baptized “Borealis”, Dan Archer’s work aims to recreate the aurora borealis as seen in the Baltic countries. Thick lines of green light will cover the Parisian sky, to the rhythm of background music. In 2019, he had already offered a similar show in Paris. This show carries an important ecological message, according to its creator. This aims to trigger in the viewer a feeling of humility in the face of an unstable nature. Dan Archer thus seeks to question climate change, which on the one hand is ravaging our ecosystem and on the other hand is forcing us to adapt in order to survive.

The show is open to everyone. Those who would like to attend are invited to come to the Parvis of the Hôtel de Paris on Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 July, from 10:30 p.m. In order to simulate these aurora borealis, the Swiss activist of course uses technology. “Borealis is as much a work of art as it is a technological achievement. Variations in the movement, color and density of the light beams, as well as changing weather conditions, give infinite variations. A unique aurora is created every time,” its site reads.
