Three years after Zoom’s popularity exploded during the pandemic, the app is getting a new, AI-powered version.
On Monday, Zoom announced it is leveraging OpenAI technology to develop Zoom IQ, an intelligent companion for Zoom, adding AI experiences that can optimize its customers’ workflows.
Over the past year, Zoom IQ has slowly grown in features, including meeting recording. Zoom is now adding productivity features, such as thread summaries and text generation.
- The text generation functions, “Zoom IQ chat dials” And “Zoom IQ email dials“, will use generative AI to craft messages and replies using conversational context and user cues.
- There Zoom IQ’s meeting summary feature will automatically summarize meeting content in real time. If you join a meeting late, you can use this feature to quickly catch up on what you missed.
- Once the session is over, the recap is broadcast in a shareable format on the Zoom Team Chat where the team can access meeting content, as well as suggested actions to take.
Communication and office software are all equipped with AI functionalities
The new Zoom IQ features will be available “to select customers by invitation” starting in April, according to the blog post.
Zoom isn’t the first workplace productivity tool to embrace AI features; Slack, Google Workspace, and Microsoft 365 all announced their own AI integrations this month.
