Vision Pro: Apple should plan a cheaper version

APPLE VISION PRO

At $3,499, the Apple Vision Pro is quite expensive. Now Apple is planning a cheap version of the glasses. The manufacturer could use these measures to lower the price.

  • Apple is said to be planning a cheaper version of the Vision Pro.
  • The headset could outsource features to other devices, restrict them or omit them entirely.
  • The price could also be pushed down by other components.

The Vision Pro headset is without a doubt a high-end device. If you want to hold the VR glasses from Apple in your hands in 2024, you have to dig deep into your pocket at a price of 3,499 US dollars. A cheaper version would be very useful. In the nature of things, you would have to make some compromises with this one.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said in January that Apple was working on a cheaper version of the Vision Pro. He does not deviate from this even after the presentation at the WWDC. The slimmed down version should appear without “Pro” in the name and be called Apple Vision or Apple Vision One.

Apple Vision Pro in the test: That’s what the US media say
Press reviews at a glance

The Apple Vision Pro headset will not go on sale until 2024. Some US media were allowed to try the glasses in Cupertino in advance. We summarize their impressions.

In his opinion, Apple could save by using fewer cameras, an iPhone processor or cheaper screens. In addition, the spatial audio could only work through AirPods. With fewer features, a lower price would also be possible. Important functions that contribute to operation and eye-sight would probably not be omitted.
