Celebrity deepfakes shouldn’t actually be possible with the Apple Vision Pro. Nevertheless, a concept video has now emerged that shows exactly that.

The Apple Vision Pro cameras allow you to see your surroundings when you put on the headset. A concept video uploaded to Reddit by jessler722 shows a different idea of what could be done with the cameras. Using deepfake, people’s faces could be swapped so that they resemble celebrities. Apple probably wouldn’t be happy about it.
In the video we see an application that swaps a person’s face so that it looks like the face of Jesse Richards, Jack Dawson, Miles Teller or Zac Efron. At the end we see a blurry image of a celebrity who could be unlocked via microtransaction.
Deepfakes are not just a fun gimmick. The potential for misuse is very high, as this technology could theoretically allow other people’s faces to appear in videos or photos without their permission, which could ruin their reputation.
9to5Mac believes that the cameras cannot actually be used for deepfakes with official apps. Apple does not give third-party manufacturers access to the cameras. However, once there is a jailbreak, an app not authorized by Apple could try to bring such a concept to the Vision Pro.
