VisionOS 1.1: new update for Apple’s Vision Pro space computer

After a certain enthusiasm at its launch, then multiple returns in stores, Apple’s Vision Pro mixed reality headset is entitled to an update to its operating system, VisionOS 1.1.

Succeeding version 1.0.3, which added a reset option in case of forgotten password, it provides MDM functionalities allowing “deployment, configuration and management of devices [Vision Pro] for companies”.

More interesting, VisionOS 1.1 refines the persona improving the appearance of the avatar’s hair, neck, makeup and mouth. In addition, Apple explains that it has perfected the rendering of the eyes of the external screen, a feature called EyeSight.

The virtual keyboard benefits from more precise cursor positioning to facilitate text entry. It also benefits from some bug fixes:

  • Fixes some cases where the location of the virtual keyboard hides the text input field
  • Fixes an issue where, in some cases, the text preview on the virtual keyboard may appear out of sync with the text field in the app
  • Fixes an issue where the edit menu may appear unexpectedly

The option to display a Mac screen on the Vision Pro now provides better reliability in finding and connecting a nearby Apple computer. The Apple company also fixed two problems: Universal Control stopping working and previously paired Bluetooth devices no longer being detected.

Apple announces that it is now possible to configure the Vision Pro with a captive wifi network, “such as those found in hotels, cafes and airports”.

VisionOS 1.1 is downloadable directly from the Settings app. Simply go to the General section, then open the Software Update menu.
