Vivaldi loves Mastodon and just took another step to prove it as part of his latest update.

The web browser also takes the opportunity to improve some of its aspects.

Vivaldi + Mastodon = ?

Following Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter and Mastodon’s return to the news, Vivaldi, an ardent advocate of alternatives and privacy, quickly embraced the free and decentralized social network. The developer behind the eponymous browser has thus created its own Mastodon instance (Vivaldi Social), and today comes the next logical step: Mastodon is now integrated directly into Vivaldi 5.6.

In its side panel, Vivaldi on desktop now offers access via an icon to Vivaldi Social to quickly consult its feed and post messages without having to open a tab. Fortunately, it is possible to add any Mastodon instance in this panel as a web panel, like any other website.

Three other elements are worth noting in this Vivaldi 5.6 update. First of all, it is now possible to pin stacks of tabs, just like you can already do with single tabs. Then, the You.com search engine made its arrival in the list of engines offered by the browser in a handful of countries (United Kingdom, United States, Canada and Germany). Finally, the icons on the settings page take on colors so that each menu is more easily identifiable.

Vivaldi

  • The advantages of Chrome/Google without the disadvantages
  • Lots of features
  • Advanced customization for power users

By offering a large number of customization tools and native features aimed primarily at power users and those allergic to Google, Vivaldi is an extremely rich and complete browser that may, at first glance, seem cumbersome and complex to approach and adjust. But thanks to a solid optimization work and various levels of settings, the software is now for everyone and allows you to free yourself from Google’s privacy policy while enjoying the benefits of Chrome. The Android version of Vivaldi is also an excellent complement to the desktop version, which today recalls the best hours of Opera.
