It is not easy to stand out in the smartphone market. While references are multiplying at a very high speed, the choice of an original design can sometimes attract the attention of consumers. Vivo seems to have understood this and is trying to distinguish itself by offering two new models capable of changing colors.

Once exposed to the Sun (for 5 to 6 min), the back of the V23 and V23 Pro changes from gold to an emerald green rather pleasing to the eye. It returns to its original color after a time in the shade. This effect is due to the use of Fluorite AG glass which changes color when exposed to light. Beyond this small aesthetic gadget, the two devices have rather tempting technical sheets.

Two well-off smartphones

The Vivo V23 opts for a 6.44-inch flat Amoled screen that displays Full HD + (2400 x 1080 px) and has a refresh rate of 90 Hz. The whole thing works thanks to a SoC Dimensity 920, 8 / 12 GB of RAM and 128/256 GB of storage.

The photo configuration includes a 64 Mpx sensor, whose wide-angle lens opens at f / 1.89, an 8 Mpx ultra-wide angle (f / 2.2) and a 2 Mpx super macro module (f / 2.4). On the front, the smartphone offers two photo modules accompanied by a double led flash for selfies: a 50 Mpx wide-angle (f / 2) and an 8 Mpx ultra wide-angle (f / 2.28) . We can therefore expect a fairly qualitative result. The front sensors of the Vivo V21 had convinced us.

The Vivo V23 Pro offers a more solid spec sheet. He thus opts for a curved Amoled panel of 6.56 inches, certified HDR10 +, displaying in Full HD + (2376 x 1080 px) and refreshed at 90 Hz. Under the latter, we find the very efficient MediaTek Dimensity 1200 coupled to 8 or 12 GB of RAM and 128/256 GB of storage. It’s currently the most powerful of the brand, which means performance should be right up there.

For the photo, we are entitled to a wide-angle of 108 Mpx, whose lens opens at f / 1.88, an ultra-wide-angle of 8 Mpx (f / 2.2) and a super macro module of 2 Mpx (f / 2.4). It has the same sensors as the standard version on the front. Autonomy is provided by a 4300 mAh battery compatible with fast charging at 44 W.

The two devices will run on Android 12 and the Funtouch OS 12 overlay. They are sold at 350 and 460 € respectively on the Indian market and could arrive in Europe a little later in the year. If they keep a similar price, their quality / price ratio could be interesting.
