Vivo has just unveiled its X Fold+, an advanced version of the X Fold released in China a few months ago. The Chinese firm took the opportunity to improve the technical sheet, in order to offer the latest innovations. As you might expect, this is more of an update than a real new model.
It thus sports the same design and the same dimensions as its predecessor, which borrowed the general ergonomics of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold. We are therefore entitled to a 6.53-inch AMOLED external screen in 21:9 format. This gives the impression of using a standard smartphone, especially since the hinge allows it to be closed perfectly. Alas, it does not display any certification of waterproofness.
An even more ambitious technical sheet
Once opened, we enjoy a large 8.03-inch AMOLED screen (2160 x 1916 px). Both panels are LTPO certified and benefit from a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. They each have a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint reader. We recently explained how it works in a dedicated lab article.
Under the hood, Vivo ditches the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 for a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, still paired with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Vivo once again highlights its photo chip and its partnership with the German Zeiss.
Vivo has also managed to integrate a larger battery (4730 mAh against 4600 mAh) without modifying the weight of the whole, which stagnates at 311 grams. The brand promises a 20% gain in autonomy, which is difficult to verify.
This “plus” version also manages recharging at 80 W, while the X Fold was satisfied with 66 W. It takes less than 40 minutes for a full charge. 50W wireless charging is also available.
A complete photo offer
In the photo, we find the same configuration as on the standard X Fold. The set is complete, with a 50 Mpx wide-angle module whose lens opens at f / 1.8, a 48 Mpx ultra wide-angle (f / 2.2 lens), a 2x optical zoom of 12 Mpx (f / 2), and a periscope zoom of 8 Mpx (f / 3.4). A 16 Mpx sensor (f / 2.5) is housed in a punch on the front for selfies. But the format of the smartphone makes it possible to capture self-portraits using the main device. Suffice to say that it offers one of the most complete technical sheets on the market.
The set runs on Android 12 and the Chinese interface Origin OS Ocean. Vivo has also specified that the smartphone will only be available in China.
