  • First technical details of the Vivo X Fold known
  • Not a big design change compared to other foldables
  • Presentation in China in March 2022

A leak is circulating on the Chinese short message platform Weibo, which contains initial information about the new Vivo X Fold. The leaker Digital chat station provides information about the possible appearance and camera setup of the upcoming foldable. The Chinese market is gradually bringing more and more foldables to light. After the Oppo Find N and Honor Magic V, Vivo now also joins this series.

The design is strongly reminiscent of well-known foldables, which are also available in Europe and the USA. The manufacturer relies on the notebook design that you know from the Galaxy Z Fold 3, for example. So you can open the smartphone and use an 8-inch OLED QHD panel inside. The screen has a refresh rate of 120 Hz. According to the leak, there is a curved OLED display on the outside with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. The panel measures 6.7 inches and also has a refresh rate of 120 Hz. As a result, at least the outer display is at the level of some top models.

Quad camera and Snapdragon SoC?

The foldable smartphone is said to have a quad camera system. This should work with a main camera that has a resolution of 50 megapixels. The ultra-wide-angle sensor is said to have 48 megapixels and, according to previous rumors, two telephoto lenses should be installed. A particularly strong camera setup for a foldable, even if the focal lengths of the telecameras are not yet known.

There is just as little information about possible focal lengths about the processor of the Vivo X Fold. Only a few rumors show that the manufacturer uses a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. With this SoC powering most flagship models in 2022, this rumor could well turn out to be fact. There is still no information about the exact performance and various RAM data.

The 4,600 mAh battery can be charged with a cable with 80 watts and wirelessly with up to 50 watts. So far, there has been no confirmation from Vivo about the connectivity, but the previous data sheet reads in such a way that we can assume that standards such as 5G and WiFi 6 will also be found.

According to rumors, Vivo wants to present and publish the Vivo X Fold in March 2022 in its own country. However, it is not known at this point in time whether there will be an international release.
