Vladimir Putin announces vaccine "for the first time in the world"

His own daughter is said to have received a dose of this vaccine.

What news ! Russia is loudly claiming to have developed the "first" vaccine against the coronavirus, Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday during a video conference with members of the government broadcast on television. And the Russian president even announced that his daughter had been vaccinated, reports the France-Presse agency.

"This morning, for the first time in the world, a vaccine against the new coronavirus was recorded. I know that it is quite effective, that it gives lasting immunity", explained Putin. His daughter "participated in the experience, "and he said she got a little hot," and that's it. This vaccine will be put into circulation on January 1, 2021, according to the National Medicines Register of the Ministry of Health, consulted by Russian news agencies.

In recent weeks, Russia had ensured the upcoming production of thousands of doses of the novel coronavirus vaccine and "several million" by the start of next year. For its part, the World Health Organization (WHO) reacted by advocating for compliance with the protocols and regulations in force in the development of an anti-Covid-19 vaccine.

Russia is not alone in the vaccine race, for months other countries around the world have been working on several projects against Covid-19. The one developed by the Gamaleïa center is in collaboration with the Ministry of Defense.

Indonesia, for example, began on Tuesday to test on 1,600 volunteers the Chinese vaccine candidate against the coronavirus developed by the Sinovac Biotech laboratory. The vaccine has already been tested with 9,000 volunteers in Brazil, the second most affected country in the world by the coronavirus pandemic, after the United States.
