May 10 (Reuters) – Russian President Vladimir Putin, sworn in for a new term on Tuesday, has proposed that Mikhail Mishustin be reappointed prime minister, the Duma speaker announced on Friday.
It is almost certain that the State Duma, the lower house of the Russian parliament, approves the name of Mikhail Mishustin.
“President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin has submitted to the State Duma the candidacy of Mikhail Vladimirovich Mishustin for the post of Prime Minister,” Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin wrote on Telegram.
“MPs will make a decision on behalf of their constituents on this issue.”
In January 2020, Vladimir Putin proposed Mikhail Mishustin as Prime Minister to succeed Dmitri Medvedev.
Before becoming Prime Minister, Mikhail Michoustine spent his entire career within the federal tax services, which he joined in 1998 and headed since 2010. Under his leadership, tax revenues more than doubled.
