(Boursier.com) — The State, the Occitanie Region, Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole and VOGO announce the mobilization of funding for the DISNUM program relating to the development of innovative solutions for the prevention and detection of concussions in the world of sport. The DISNUM project, which is an integral part of the overall DIAGINSPORT project, was selected as part of the I-DEMO collaborative call for projects carried out in partnership with the State.

This first phase of financing, for a total amount of 800,000 euros in the form of grants and repayable advances, was provided by the Occitanie Region, Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole and the State, fully committed alongside VOGO to respond to a challenge global public health policy for professional and amateur athletes and young athletes.

VOGO, pioneer in innovation for assisting in the detection of concussions, leader of a multidisciplinary consortium mobilized for the development of a French sector of excellence. In France, the rate of concussions among athletes is estimated between 0.8 and 8 per 1,000 athletes/hour, and even rises to 15/1000 athletes/hour for rugby.

Internationally, it is estimated that 100 million2 athletes in Europe and the United States are exposed to this risk. Faced with this situation, it becomes a priority to provide solutions to increase the detection of injuries in addition to existing protocols, while developing good practices to minimize the risks and the number of accidents.

Since its creation, VOGO has placed the health and protection of athletes at the heart of its solutions by developing video technologies for professionals to optimize the effectiveness of existing protocols in terms of assisting in the detection of concussions. This early commitment was illustrated in 2017 alongside the National Rugby League, for the TOP 14 and PRO-D2 championships.
